This morning, I was searching the web came across a debate about these two movies. Madea made 27 million and The Birth of a Nation only made 17.5 million. There is a problem, I am sure some other races were seeing the Medea move too, black folks and bootlegs, and some black people just don't like slave movies which all play a factor. In today society, people rather support a film that has no depth vs. one that is historical and could potentially help more people understand the plight of the African American today. It is not a contest. But an audience observation. People feel as though The Birth of a Nation is not a way to learn about Nat Turner. Well, you know what I have to say that it may not have been a way to determine his exact life but its a start. If this movie got the same support as Madea, there would be more movies made like it at a higher scale. People love to be entertain more than thinking critically about our struggle.
